Charter Township of AuSable
Charter Township of AuSable
AuSable Township is located in Northeast Michigan at the point where the AuSable River enters Lake Huron. The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity awarded AuSable Township $750,000 for the building of the Trailhead marketplace. The Trailhead Marketplace will be located along US23 and will serve as a community center to AuSable Township and the surrounding area. The multi-use building will serve as a gathering space, will house the Northeast Michigan Regional Farm Market and the Sunrise Side Family Market, will provide a rest stop for bicyclists and will allow individuals and organizations to use the facility for the betterment of the community.
The Trailhead Marketplace will serve AuSable and Oscoda Townships, as well as the population of both Iosco and Alcona Counties (approximately 36,000 people) and will also bring tourists to our area. This project will be the culmination of a process that began with the reception of the Iron Belle Challenge Grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to purchase the property that will be the future home of the Trailhead Marketplace and will include finishing the adjacent Iosco Exploration Trail (which goes through the Township) this year.
