City of Eastpointe
City of Eastpointe
The Kennedy Park Splash Pad will reintroduce a summertime water feature to the Gateway to Macomb County for the first time in over a decade! Aquatic access will be available for residents from the cities of Eastpointe, Roseville, as well as visitors and residents from the surrounding communities. This project will be designed with universal access for all users of the park. The splash pad will incorporate barrier free pedestrian access, including the public sidewalk along Schroeder Avenue, and from the existing parking lot to the south of the site.
The project is designed to be environmentally friendly, and the equipment will be durable and long lasting using as many recyclable materials as possible. Energy reduction is being considered with the use of high efficiency nozzles. In addition, spray heads with different sequences of water output programmed would be incorporated. The surface of the splash pad would consist of an environmentally friendly, safe, protective, comfort surface that is durable and requires very little maintenance.
Finally, Eastpointe will ensure extensive community engagement during the design process to senior centers and groups, disability networks, and disabled residents to ensure that the project meets the needs of these groups for optimal accessibility and use. Family Town is delighted to add a new amenity that will provide summertime fun for years to come.
