Pine River Area Schools
Pine River Area School District
The Pine River Area School District is a 1965 consolidation of three small community schools in a large geographical area in the Western, Central Lower Michigan. It is a small, rural, remote district encompassing over 300 square miles. Approximately 20% of the families fall below the federal poverty level with nearly 50% meeting the ALICE threshold. Due to these circumstances, the community looks to the district to lead the way into the future and to provide services and programs which can and will improve their future and which many families can’t provide on their own. Pine River Area Schools has a long history of strong community support having passed several bonds despite the existence of homelessness and poverty by many. This capital project will allow for the replacement of original HVAC equipment dating back to the late 1960’s to early 1970’s when the schools were built and which can no longer be serviced due to their age. Improved air flow, air quality, consistency of heat, higher efficiencies, etc. are all benefits that students, staff and community members will enjoy. Currently Pine River Area Schools has 904 students, 139 staff and thousands of community members who enter the school for events.
