RTTM Community Center
RTTM Community Center
Since its inception in October 2018, RTTM Community Center (RTTMCC) has served as a vital nonprofit resource for Detroit residents, emphasizing hope and access through education, empowerment, and community engagement. RTTMCC’s mission is clear: to provide “hope & access” by introducing their neighbors to new industries, individuals, and ideas and providing educational and personal empowerment events to strengthen individual integrity and community ties.
The organizations flagship program, Que Blackout, is a beacon of empowerment, giving a voice to Detroit’s diverse residents across generations and cultures. RTTM provides digital literacy education, art exposure, and workforce development training to instill confidence and skills in the youth they help, which enables them to thrive academically, professionally, and personally. The program encompasses journalism, technical theater, graphic design, and broadcasting, ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate their future careers. Additionally, the Q to C-Suites program, “See You in the C-Suite,” focuses on students and their families seeing minority representation at senior-level positions at Fortune 1000 companies and exposure to success in fields beyond service and entertainment.
Additionally, RTTMCC Que-munity Center program hosts various community events yearly to foster engagement and support. These include:
- Harvest Treats: An annual Halloween event that provides a safe and fun environment for Metro Detroit residents to enjoy treats and eats.
- P.O.O.R (Provide Our Overlooked Resources) Folk Financial Empowerment: Financial education sessions designed to enhance skills and create positive banking relationships for people of all ages and backgrounds.
- District 3 Health Fair: A health fair targeting the residents of District 3 of Detroit, providing essential preventive medicine and medical screenings.
- Get the Bag Job Prep: An intensive job preparation program that teaches practical skills such as resume building, mock interviews, and on-the-job etiquette.
- Neighborhood Hangout: A casual and vibrant gathering spot that welcomes all residents seeking friendly company, good conversation, and a fun atmosphere.
Looking ahead to 2024, the organization's goal is to serve 500 youth and their families through a year-round series of performances, career development workshops, and digital literacy training. With the continued support of community partners, RTTM aims to empower their students to explore art and technology as future opportunities, achieve financial literacy, and build a network of peers and mentors. Their programs not only provide tangible work experience but also instill the confidence needed to succeed in the highly competitive workforce.
RTTMCC has evolved significantly since its inception, but their core values of excellence and respect have remained steadfast. They are committed to improving the lives of their students and the community at large, and they look forward to continuing their journey of empowerment and access.
