Mammography Advisory Committee (Posted 3/31/2011)
The Radiation Safety Section is embarking on a project to update Part 14 - Mammography of the administrative rules. The current mammography rules were added to the Ionizing Radiation Rules on November 12, 1993. Subsequent to that date federal regulations pertaining to mammography were enacted. The federal Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) final rules took effect in 1999 and sets minimum standards that all U.S. mammography facilities must follow. We propose changing Part 14 to be more consistent with the federal MQSA regulations.
If you are interested in participating in a informal mammography advisory committee to provide input on this project, please send an e-mail to rssinfo@michigan.gov to indicate your interest. We will add you to a mailing list to keep you informed of our progress. We will probably schedule at least one face-to-face meeting but the majority of the input will be electronic.
