State Apprenticeship Expansion 2026 RFP
Request for Proposals: Funding available to expand Registered Apprenticeship opportunities in non-infrastructure occupations
About the RFP
The Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity, Workforce Development (LEO-WD) is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for State Apprenticeship Expansion 2026 (SAE 2026). The SAE 2026 grant program supports the expansion of United States Department of Labor (USDOL) Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAP) opportunities across Michigan. SAE 2026 focuses on expansion of RAPs in in-demand industry sectors, Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Educational Services, Health and Human Services, and Information Technology.
SAE 2026 will provide access to life changing career pathways by growing the number of productive partners, extend RAP benefits to more Michigan residents, and increase the number of skilled workers who “earn while they learn” and achieve a post-secondary credential upon program completion. RAPs can be sponsored by individual employers, joint sponsors, labor groups, and/or employer associations. Total funding available through SAE 2026 is $3,000,000, with an overall goal of 455 new RAs. LEO-WD anticipates three to seven grant awards ranging from $200,000 to $1,000,000. Programs will develop new or expand existing USDOL RAPs during the grant period of performance, March 1, 2026, through September 30, 2026. Awardees will be announced by March 24, 2026.
