Claims EDI Process
Michigan Workers’ Disability Compensation Agency (WDCA) is in the midst of modernizing our Workers’ Compensation data capture and management system. WDCA plans to implement voluntary submission of IAIABC Claims EDI Release 3.1 standard First Report of Injury (FROI) and Subsequent Report of Injury (SROI) during calendar year 2024. Implementation date TBD. Data requirements and editing may change as development and testing progresses. Questions regarding Claims EDI reporting in Michigan should be directed to LEO-WC-EDI-Claims@michigan.gov.

Trading partner tables below describe Claims Release 3.1 reporting events, data requirements and validation edits that will be applied to submitted EDI transactions. A summary of changes from previously published reporting requirements are described in Jur Change Log worksheet of each table. Click on the corresponding link to view or download each table:
MI Claims Implementation Guide Rev. TBD describes reporting requirements, processing times and guidelines to prepare for EDI partnership.
MI Claims Event Table Rev. 04/15/2024 (MS Excel): This table defines Claims reporting events (Maintenance Type Codes). Conditions to determine reportable events and criteria to derive respective due date are described.
MI Claims Element Requirement Table Rev. 08/21/2024 (MS Excel): This table defines the data required to be included in reportable events (Maintenance Type Codes) indicated in the Event table.
MI Claims Edit Matrix Rev. 08/21/2024 (MS Excel): This table defines the code validation, edits that will be applied to the data, population restrictions and Error Text that will be returned on acknowledgments for edit failures. The Edit Matrix also provides the standard error messages associated with these edits.
