LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Land Bank Fast Track Authority released a Request for Proposals for demolition and abatement of a blighted former laundromat in West Branch.
The Michigan Land Bank is encouraging all qualified contractors, including local businesses, to submit bids for this project.
“We’re excited to help the West Branch community eliminate this long-blighted property. Demolition of this building will open up new opportunities for engagement within the community,” Michigan Land Bank Interim Director Jeff Huntington said.
Demolition will be funded by Michigan Rural Community Demolition Grant funds awarded to the City of West Branch in April. This grant was made available to county land banks and local units of government to help communities remove vacant and abandoned structures from their neighborhoods, allowing them to prepare for future developments that spark business investment and provide job opportunities for residents.
"This building has been an eyesore and danger to West Branch for several years and we would like to extend a huge thank you to the Michigan Land Bank for making this demolition possible,” West Branch Grants, Public Safety & Community Revitalization Coordinator Kelli Collins said. “We are still working on plans for this property once demolition is complete, but we are hopeful this property will become a great outdoor gathering place for the community.”
Questions from potential bidders must be received via email no later than June 14, at landbank@michigan.gov with the subject “West Branch RFP Questions.” Bidders must submit proposals by June 21 at noon via email at landbank@michigan.gov.
