$31.8M funding available to help Michigan automotive manufacturers stay competitive, prepare for future

Michigan Community and Worker Economic Transition Office seeks Notice of Intent to apply for Michigan Supplier Conversion Grant Program

LANSING, Mich. -- The Community and Worker Economic Transition Office is now accepting Notices of Intent to apply for the Michigan Supplier Conversion Grant Program, a program created to help small- and medium-sized automotive suppliers receive critical capital needed to adapt to emerging, competitive global markets and take advantage of opportunities to reshore automotive manufacturing.

The Michigan Supplier Conversion Grant Program has allocated $31.8 million through federal funding made available by the U.S. Department of Energy and state support for current small- and medium-sized manufacturers producing parts for internal combustion vehicles to retool their facilities and retrain their workforce to enter electric vehicle supply chains. Eligible Michigan companies can use these funds for fixed asset investment, machinery and equipment, technology and associated training to support qualified retooling projects. By submitting a Notice of Intent, companies with strong submissions will receive technical assistance to develop competitive project applications.

“The Michigan Supplier Conversion Grant Program is another innovative way we’re helping small- and medium-sized manufacturers in Michigan obtain the funding and tools they need to stay competitive in a rapidly changing global market and seize new opportunities to keep automotive manufacturing in our state,” said Community and Worker Economic Transition Office Director Jonathan Smith. “This critical funding helps companies adapt, grow and position themselves for the future. We encourage manufacturers across the state to submit their Notice of Intent and take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen their business and Michigan’s economy.”

Interested applicants can submit their Notice of Intent to apply online through this form by Nov. 10, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
