Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program Announces 2023 Outreach and Promotion Grant Recipients
LANSING - The Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) today announced the recipients of $19,700 in grants aimed to help encourage Michigan’s farming community implement conservation and other environmental protections on their land. Organizations could apply for grants of up to $2,000 for MAEAP field days and promotions.
The competitive grants were awarded to 17 local conservation districts and partner organizations across the state. The submitted projects were reviewed by a joint evaluation committee comprised of the following organizations: Michigan Soybean Committee, Greenstone Farm Credit Services, Michigan Farm Bureau, and a MAEAP technician. Eligible applicants included conservation districts and other MAEAP partner organizations.
MAEAP is a voluntary program where landowners work together with their local conservation district to identify steps they can take to prevent pollution and protect Michigan’s natural resources.
The following are the recipients of the 2023 MAEAP Communications Grants:
• Arenac Conservation District - $1,000
• Berrien County Conservation District - $1,000
• Chippewa Luce Mackinac Conservation District - $1,300
• Ionia Conservation District - $1,000
• Iron Baraga Conservation District - $1,300
• Kalamazoo Conservation District - $900
• Kent Conservation District - $800
• Lapeer Conservation District - $1,500
• Leelanau Conservation District - $2,000
• Michigan Christmas Tree Association - $200
• Michigan State University Extension (Jackson) - $1,300
• Michigan State University Extension (Montcalm) - $1,200
• Missaukee Conservation District - $1,400
• Oceana Conservation District - $1,500
• Osceola-Lake Conservation District - $1,500
• Ottawa Conservation District - $1,100
• Saginaw Conservation District - $700
