2021-22 Michigan Teacher of the Year Leah Porter featured in latest #proudMIeducator video

LANSING - Building connections and relationships with students is the cornerstone of teaching for 2021-22 Michigan Teacher of the Year Leah Porter.

In the latest #proudMIeducator video, Ms. Porter, an elementary teacher at Holt Public Schools, and students and colleagues share their experiences about how important it is to build a learning community.

"The proudMIeducator campaign is one way we honor the hard work of passionate educators, such as Leah," said State Superintendent Dr. Michael Rice. "We hope that her experiences and reflections will help others understand the importance of building community in our classrooms and schools and will motivate people to consider a career in education."
