MCSC announces Robert Kolt as board chairperson
The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) is pleased to announce the election of Robert Kolt, president and CEO of Kolt Communications, Inc., as the new board chairperson. Commissioners elected Kolt during a recent MCSC board meeting in Lansing.
“We are excited for the future of service and volunteerism in Michigan under Bob’s leadership,” said Ginna Holmes, executive director of MCSC. “He has been a tremendous asset on the board for several years and his experience will help us move forward in helping our state’s communities through service.”
Kolt, of Haslett, has been an MCSC board member since 2012, serving as the Continuous Improvement Committee chair. Kolt Communications in Okemos provides a variety of communication counseling services including advertising, public relations and media coaching to both public and private sector clients statewide. Kolt is also a professor of practice in the Advertising and Public Relations Department in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University, where he has taught for 24 years. Kolt is involved in many community and philanthropic efforts and has served as a volunteer leader with AARP Michigan, the Capital Region Community Foundation and the Michigan Nurses Foundation.
“I’m honored to have been appointed, and then reappointed to a second term to the Commission by Governor Rick Snyder,” said Kolt. “All of the leaders who serve on the Michigan Community Service Commission share a passion for volunteer service. Volunteers add real value to charitable causes and organizations throughout Michigan. It’s a great honor to serve as chair of the Commission.”
Kolt replaces Julie Calley, Michigan’s Second Lady, after she won the 87th District seat in the Michigan House of Representatives. Calley, of Portland, first served with MCSC in 2011.
“We are sad to say goodbye to Julie, but are proud that she will continue to serve our state,” Holmes said. “She has been an invaluable member of our board and has made a tremendous impact in her service with us.”
