Youth Volunteer of the Year - Neha Seshadri
NEHA SESHADRI of Ann Arbor believes that education is the key to bring about positive change, so she has used it as a tool to impact thousands of lives in Michigan and around the globe. She founded a nonprofit, Helping Hands Going Global, which provides aid to children who lack access to education, nutrition and basic necessities like clothing, shoes, books, and dental hygiene products. Neha has impacted more than 500 children through group tutoring, workshops, and through recyclable digital devices. She also took her passion for swimming and shared it with kids who have special needs, teaching and preparing them to participate in their own swim competition and helping them build their own confidence. Recognizing that children needed more love and care at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, she joined and became a lead volunteer, helping children by reading books to them and providing a positive atmosphere for parents in stressful situations. “Neha is extremely dedicated to making a difference; when she doesn’t see something being done, she steps up and does it herself." said Erin Dougherty, Executive Director of The Heart of a Child.
