Community Family Life Center (CFLC) serves individuals, youth and their families with programming focused on social, educational, physical and economic well-being. CFLC is a neighborhood based, non-profit organization that serves as a hub for the Ypsilanti Sugarbrook Neighborhood and the greater Ypsilanti area. Through the community center, we offer a range of programs and services designed to address the unique needs of low-income residents.
The Community Family Life Center is a welcoming and safe space that serves as a hub for community engagement and empowerment. Individuals of all ages can come together to access resources, support services, and participate in enriching programs. The facility features:
- Multipurpose Rooms: Equipped for various activities such as educational workshops, skill-building sessions, and community gatherings.
- Computer Lab: Providing access to technology for educational purposes such as STEM programs, homework, and skill development.
- Counseling Rooms: Providing confidential counseling services for individuals and families facing mental health challenges.
- Licensed Commercial Kitchen: Providing Healthy and Nutritional meals for participants of the after-school programs.
- Recreation Area: Over 8 acres of green space for safe recreational activities and youth programs. Sports Lending Library: Lends out sporting equipment for youth to take home for their enjoyment.
- Rain Garden: 14,000 square feet of rain garden that benefits the community and supported by Washtenaw County Conservation District and the National Fish and Wildlife Federation.
Community Family Life Center makes a tangible difference in the community through our comprehensive array of services and programs by serving the following:
- Children and Youth: Engaging over 1,350children and youth annually in our after-school programs, tutoring, financial literacy, mentorship initiatives, and recreational activities to promote academic success and personal development.
- Health and Wellness: We provide, mental health counseling, and wellness programs focused on nutrition and fitness that serves over 200 families a year.
- Community Events: Hosting 4 or 5 community events throughout the year to promote unity, celebrate diversity, and foster a sense of belonging among residents.
- Food Insecurity: Helping to eliminate food insecurity by serving over 500 families per month through food distribution program.
