Joe Louis Greenway Partnership
The Joe Louis Greenway Partnership is a 501c3 organization whose purpose is making the Joe Louis greenway a space that celebrates the strength and resilience of its surrounding communities through inclusive programming, ongoing beautification, and intentional community engagement.
The Joe Louis Greenway is a 29-mile recreational pathway that will connect residents and visitors across 23 neighborhoods in Detroit, Highland Park, Hamtramck, and Dearborn through a combination of new trails, on-street protected bike lanes, and links to existing trails in Southeast Michigan.
The capital project involves the transformation of the existing community center into an energy-efficient resiliency center that will serve as a hub for the local community, focusing on sustainability, disaster preparedness, and community well-being. The project aims to not only upgrade the facility's infrastructure but also create a space that fosters education, collaboration, and resilience in the face of various challenges. Overall, the capital project's objective is to create a dynamic and forward-thinking resiliency center that not only enhances the community's ability to respond to challenges but also serves as an educational platform for sustainable living and disaster preparedness. The project aligns with the community's long-term goals of fostering environmental stewardship, community cohesion, and resilience.
