MCCC Chairman, Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard, and MCSC Executive Director, Kyle Caldwell, will host the fourth meeting of the Michigan Citizen Corps Council at Bronson Hospital Gilmore Center for Education. The charge of the Council is to organize Citizen Corps throughout the state. The Citizen Corps is a component of President George Bush’s USA Freedom Corps which creates opportunities for individuals to volunteer to help communities prepare for and respond to emergencies. It is an all-encompassing effort designed to bring together local leaders, individual volunteers, and the network of first responder organizations such as police departments, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel.
The 12 member MCCC serves as an advisory committee to the MCSC and provides direction on issues related to homeland security and the role volunteers can play in disaster preparedness.
The meeting is open to the public and the press is welcome to attend. Time will be allotted for public comment. Please call Nicole Gee at (248) 858-5009 or Gary Zulinski at (517) 241-3867 with any questions.
