MICHIGAN CITIZEN CORPS COUNCIL MEETING IN OAKLAND COUNTY
The Michigan Citizen Corps Council (MCCC) will meet in Auburn Hills for the fourth in a series of meetings that have been held around the state.

MCCC Chairman, Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard, and MCSC Executive Director, Kyle Caldwell, will host the meeting of the Michigan Citizen Corps Council at the CREST Center. The charge of the Council is to organize Citizen Corps throughout the state. The Citizen Corps is a component of President George Bush's USA Freedom Corp which creates opportunities for individuals to volunteer to help communities prepare for and respond to emergencies. It is an all encompassing effort designed to bring together local leaders, individual volunteers, and the network of first responder organizations such as police departments, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel.
The meeting is open to the public and the press is welcome to attend. Time will be allotted for public comment. The 12 member MCCC serves as an advisory committee to the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) and provides direction on issues related to homeland security and the role volunteers can play in disaster preparedness. The MCSC is a state agency that funds and supports programs that encourage all Michigan residents to volunteer.
