Electronic Filing (FTS)

The Michigan Workers' Disability Compensation Appeals Commission (WDCAC) accepts filings via upload through the Michigan File Transfer Service (FTS), a secure electronic file transfer portal. At this time, electronic filings can be accepted from attorneys and law firms approved to practice in Michigan and registered with FTS. The Commission will accept any submissions, including claims for review, transcripts, cross-appeals, motions (and responses), briefs (and responses), and general correspondence.

Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF documents can be electronically filed by uploading them to the FTS system. Electronic signatures (like "/s John Doe") can be used to eliminate the need to print or scan the documents before filing. Once a file is uploaded, the filer can consult the home screen to see when the filing was received and when the Commission downloaded it, eliminating any uncertainty about whether something was timely filed. With the recent rule changes, there is no longer a need to follow up any electronic filing by sending in the original document. The electronic filing is all that is required.

Attorneys and claimants unrepresented by counsel may continue to file by facsimile, mail, or professional delivery service. In-person deliveries are subject to building rules.

Attorneys and law firms interested in participating should complete the application, form WC-480, and email it to:

kurikesuj@michigan.gov

Once the form is received and approved, applicants will receive user instructions and a User ID and password. Please note that applicants must specifically check the "WC Appeals" box on the application in order to access the Commission's mailbox, designated as "WCMIWDCAC." Filers who previously applied for an FTS account but did not check that box must file a new application to update their access.

Authorized users that have a User ID and password can access the FTS Portal.

Additional FTS information and filing instructions are available for reference.
