Program overview
This program prepares student for an entry-level career in seven areas of specialization. Students work to become certified by the State of Michigan or through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). There are also two five-week courses that focus on oil change and tire services. Additionally, there is a Parts Specialist program for retail automotive parts personnel; this program includes a 5-week internship and has an ASE related certification that can be earned. Depending on skills, abilities, and interests, students can participate up to six terms. All courses incorporate the National Automotive Technician’s Education Foundation (NATEF) industry standards.
