MiSTEM convenes a statewide network of leaders in education, business and local communities to empower the next generation of innovators.
The Rural Development Fund Board, housed in the Office of Rural Prosperity, has oversight of the Rural Development Fund. The Board is charged with advising the Office on how to distribute tax revenue collected from mines to improve and strengthen local communities. Director is a voting member and makes final decision on projects (Public Act 411 of 2012).

MCTI’s Cabinetmaking/Millwork Program is home to the Midwest Advanced Woodworking Technology Center. This program is one of the most technically advanced in the country. Students learn how to use woodworking machinery and software. Individual and production projects help students develop their skill and knowledge. Students earn national credentials through the Woodworking Career Alliance (WCA).
Depending on skills, abilities and interests, students can participate up to six terms.

The industry has a great need for skilled workers. Starting pay may range from the current minimum wage to a higher amount depending on the location of the job.
