The Rural Development Fund Board, housed in the Office of Rural Prosperity, has oversight of the Rural Development Fund. The Board is charged with advising the Office on how to distribute tax revenue collected from mines to improve and strengthen local communities. The Appeals Division represents the General Industry Safety & Health and the Construction Safety & Health divisions in prehearing conferences and formal administrative hearings related to contested MIOSHA citations. Questions concerning the administrative process relative to prehearing conferences or formal hearings can be directed to the MIOSHA Appeals Division. Questions concerning case scheduling should be directed to the Bureau of Hearings.

Promote the safety and health of Michigan's working men and women by providing fair, objective and professional services dedicated to resolving disputed MIOSHA citations; either through the formal hearing process or by negotiating settlements that are consistent with the provisions and objectives of the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act.
