MRS Application Process

How to apply for Michigan Rehabilitation Services

Applying to receive services through Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) is straightforward. Follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1 — Referral
Start with a referral to MRS
Anyone can refer you to Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), or you can contact MRS directly. Referrals may be made in person, by phone, email or mail. After MRS receives your referral, a staff member will contact you within 30 days to explain the process and help you take the next steps.
Step 2 — Apply for Services
Complete the MRS application

To apply for services, you must complete and sign the MRS Application for Vocational and Employment Services.

If you are younger than 18 or have a court-appointed legal guardian, your parent or guardian must also sign the application. MRS staff can help you complete the application and provide reasonable accommodations upon request.

Download and complete the MRS Application for Vocational and Employment Services (MRS-3.0a), then submit it to an MRS office.

Step 3 — Application Review & Eligibility Determination
MRS will review your application and determine eligibility
Once your completed application is received, MRS will begin a 60‑day period to determine your eligibility for services. During this time, staff may request additional information about your disability or work‑related needs. If you have questions or need assistance at any stage, MRS staff are ready to help.
