Application Process
How do I apply for MRS services?
Applying for Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) is straightforward. Here are the steps:
1. You can start with a referral.
Anyone can refer you, or you can contact MRS yourself. Referrals can be made in person, by phone, email, or mail. When MRS receives your referral, staff will contact you within 30 days to explain the process and help you get started.
2. Complete the MRS application.
To apply, you must fill out and sign the MRS Application for Vocational and Employment Services. If you are under 18 or have a court appointed legal guardian, a parent or guardian must also sign the application. MRS staff can help you complete the form and offer reasonable accommodations if you need them.
3. After you apply, MRS reviews your information.
Once your completed application is received, MRS begins a 60‑day period to determine your eligibility for services. During this time, staff may ask for additional information about your disability or work‑related needs. If you have questions or need help at any step, MRS staff are ready to support you. See the bottom of this page for MRS contact information.
To begin you will need to complete the MRS Online Application OR complete the printable, paper MRS Application for Vocational and Employment Services (MRS-3.0a) and submit to an MRS office.
