LANSING, Mich.— Talent and Economic Development Department of Michigan Director Roger Curtis issued the following statement after the Michigan House Appropriations Committee approved the Marshall Plan for Talent bill package – SBs 941-942.
“If Michigan is to become the world leader in developing top-notch talent with the in-demand skills employers are so desperately seeking, we must revolutionize our education and talent development systems. The Marshall Plan for Talent does that.
“I thank Chairwoman Rep. Laura Cox and the committee members for their swift action that puts the state one step closer to ensuring we can get to work in building the world's best talent for the more than 800,000 career openings through 2024.
“We know the state that best closes the talent gap will have a distinct advantage over others when businesses are looking for a place to open or expand. I look forward to continuing the conversation with our partners in the Legislature to make Michigan that state and continue its bright economic future.”
