January 16, 2019 – To better serve the public, the Unemployment Insurance Agency has relocated its local Saginaw Unemployment Insurance office from 4901 Towne Center Road to 515 N. Washington Ave., Ste. 100, in Saginaw.
“The move to a new location is part of our ongoing efforts to better meet the needs of residents who interact with the unemployment insurance system,” said Michelle Beebe, Senior Deputy Director, Unemployment Insurance Agency. “The new office gives us a larger area to service our customers, and we’re near a Michigan Works Service Center.”
“UI has had a long successful history of maintaining an office in the Saginaw area,” Beebe added. “We are very pleased with these new offices so that we can continue our excellent relationship with Saginaw.”
“We are excited to see new investment and people working in the City of Saginaw,” said Saginaw Mayor Floyd Kloc. “Additional office professionals in Riverfront Saginaw is another step in our resurgence that includes entertainment, urban living, health care and more.”
"This project is an excellent example of cooperation in the Saginaw community to support jobs and new investment," said JoAnn Crary, president of Saginaw Future Inc. "Shaheen Development, Senator Ken Horn, Representative Vanessa Guerra, the City of Saginaw, the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce and Saginaw Future all worked together to help retain jobs in Saginaw."
The Saginaw office is one of 13 local offices around the state that provides in-person assistance to customers with unemployment insurance claims. Local offices also provide access to computers for customers to file their claim or access their online accounts. The office is open Mon-Tues 7 AM - 6 PM, Wed. 7 AM - 5 PM and Thurs - Fri 8 AM- 5PM.
Local Unemployment Insurance office staff assist customers with unemployment benefits while Michigan Works provides jobseeker services to help unemployed workers transition to new jobs.
