State Land Bank seeking environmental professionals for future site services

LANSING, Mich.—The State Land Bank Authority (SLBA) has released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking environmental professionals to renew their list of qualifying consultants to perform a range of environmental services on select SLBA properties across the state.
“This process will assist the Land Bank in replenishing the qualified firms we partner with for redevelopments of various sites across the state over the next two years,” State Land Bank Interim Director Jeff Huntington said. “The request for qualifications allows us to be prepared for projects as they happen and shorten our procurement time, thus quickly returning property back to productive use.”
As the Land Bank aims to prepare properties for renovation or demolition, environmental studies may be needed to assess the property and gain a better understanding of its current environmental condition and any necessary remediation actions.
This RFQ is open to all environmental professionals who are capable and qualified to meet the objectives and requirements described in this document. The Land Bank in specifically seeking firms with expertise in the following areas:
- Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments,
- Hazardous materials assessment for asbestos containing materials and universal waste surveys,
- Lead-based paint inspectors and risk assessors,
- Air clearance and visual inspectors,
- Lead clearance examiners,
- Demolition site supervisors, and
- Brownfield plan developers.
Questions from potential firms must be received via email no later than May 15, at landbank@michigan.gov with the subject “Environmental Consultants RFQ Questions.”
There is an initial due date of May 29, 2020, for interested professionals. The Land Bank will accept submissions beyond that date to be reviewed quarterly. Proposals should be submitted electronically to landbank@michigan.gov.
