General Information

Non-poultry avian is any species of bird that is not considered poultry. Poultry includes chickens, guinea fowl, turkeys, waterfowl, pigeons, doves, peafowl, and game birds under the husbandry of humans.

Coming into Michigan from Another State (import)

No entry permit is required for interstate importation into Michigan

Non-poultry avian must have an official interstate certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI) filled out by an United States Department of Agriculture accredited veterinarian in the animal’s state of origin.

Exhibition (Show, fair demonstration or display) Requirements

  1. There are no specific requirements for non-poultry avian moving within the state for exhibition.
  2. Non-poultry avian being imported from out-of-state for exhibition must have an official interstate certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI) filled out by an United States Department of Agriculture accredited veterinarian in the animal’s state of origin.
  3. Contact the exhibition authorities for any additional requirements.
