Director of Finance and Budget
Sylvia Renteria serves as the Director of Finance and Budget for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development supporting the department’s budgeting, accounting, auditing, procurement, federal programs, and office services. She has been in this role since January 2021 and is dedicated to MDARD’s financial stability.
Prior to MDARD, she held several budget roles in the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. She was a budget liaison, financial specialist, and budget officer during her tenure with the department. She also previously was the accounting manager at the Lansing School District and an accountant at a private automotive research firm.
Sylvia has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Davenport University and is a graduate of the Quality of Life’s Leadership Academy. While not crunching numbers, Sylvia enjoys running, kayaking, traveling across the state, exploring new parts of the world, and, of course, enjoying delicious Michigan food.
