PPPM Divison Director
Steve Carlson is the Deputy Division Director for the Pesticide and Plant Pest Management Division (PPPMD), overseeing internal operations of the division’s activities. He has held this position since 2020.
Steve holds a Biological Sciences degree from Michigan State University. He began his career in agriculture as a Plant Protection Quarantine Officer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. In 1999, Steve accepted his first position with PPPMD, serving as a lead worker and then getting promoted to a regional supervisor. Steve has worked on numerous projects in his career, including the Emerald Ash Borer response in the early 2000’s.
When not working, Steve loves to sail with his wife, Wendy. Steve and Wendy also enjoy biking and incorporate that into their shared love of travel.
