Security Seal Requirement Effective May 1, 2015
Service Registration Program Requirement Change
Effective May 1, 2015, all agencies will be required to utilize security seals that have unique markings (letters or Roto seal® with a serial number) that identify the company. Companies creating new seals must submit in writing a description of the seal to Weights and Measures. Companies using Roto seals® will need permission from Weights and Measures and the serial number from the Roto seal® will need to be on the Place in Service report.
This change in the registration requirements is being enacted to assist Weights and Measures in communication with agencies when potential violations may exist. Furthermore, the use of "unique" security seals will better confirm which company has made critical adjustments to a device in cases when the operator is unsure.
