Credentials of Value
Credentials of Value
"Credential of Value" is Michigan's secondary Perkins V indicator of program quality selected by the Perkins V State Plan Accountability Subcommittee. This indicator is the percentage of CTE concentrators graduating from high school having attained a recognized postsecondary credential.
CTE students who possess a Credential of Value have a competitive advantage over non-credential holders when transitioning to postsecondary training or employment.
Employment Advantage
Postsecondary Credit Advantage
State‑approved recognized postsecondary credentials validate the skills and knowledge a student holds and may lead to the awarding of credit, allowing students to bypass courses in which they are already competent.
High Quality CTE Programs
High-quality CTE programs use performance data for evaluation, and credential data can be one measure of program improvement. Effective programs of study prepare students for further education and careers while meeting current and future workforce needs.
