The Workforce Longitudinal Data System (WLDS) connects Michigan’s workforce and educational data to help Michiganders make informed, data-driven decisions.
The Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Employment and Training partners with the Michigan Department of Education, the Center for Educational Performance and Information, the Center for Data and Analytics, and the Unemployment Insurance Agency to merge information from separate systems to provide essential aggregate data to Michigan stakeholders, including students/parents, teachers, legislators, workforce and education policymakers, taxpayers and employers.
The connection of database records allows analysis of education and training program outcomes, the delivery of employment services, and employment within Michigan. The enhanced data can be used to make informed decisions about training and education, policy, and programming to improve our return on investment.
The WLDS is made possible through 2012, 2015 and 2019 U.S. Department of Labor Employment & Training Administration grant funds.
