Michigan Community Service Commission Names New Executive Director

Holmes' first official day as the MCSC executive director will be June 17, 2013.

With her vast personal and professional experience and expertise, the MCSC is excited to welcome Holmes, who is a long-time partner of the MCSC and their Mentor Michigan program. Holmes is among the founding members of the Mentor Michigan Providers Council and has served on the council since its inception in 2004. Moreover, she has provided additional guidance and leadership to the council during the past three years as the chair and vice chair and has also given her time to the Mentor Michigan Leadership Council since 2010.

In addition to her professional experiences, Holmes' commitment to service has expanded to her personal life as well. She has served as the adviser for the Gratiot County Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council for 18 years and as a member of the MID-Michigan Women's Resource Center Board for the past 8 years. Holmes has also served on the Alma and St. Louis Rotary Club board for the past six years, during which she served one year as president.

For the past five years, Holmes has been the director of Academic and Career Planning at Alma College where she and her staff helped students to identify and plan for their educational and professional goals. Prior to her employment at Alma College, Holmes held numerous other positions working with youth in the mentoring and service-learning field. These include executive director of the Alma Community Center - Alma Public School's EXPLORE Program, executive director of the Alma Public School's K-12 After-School and Summer Program, and assistant director of the Center for Student Development at Alma College. Holmes began her professional career as a high school teacher and has worked with all ages of youth, from preschool to college.

After a rigorous nationwide search, the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC) is pleased to share that a new executive director for the organization has been named: Ms. Virginia (Ginna) Holmes.
