Michigan Community Service Commission to support 30 Global Youth Service Day projects
The Michigan Community Service Commission will engage thousands of Michigan youth in volunteerism for Global Youth Service Day, April 12-14.
The state’s lead agency on volunteerism will support 30 Global Youth Service Day volunteer projects across the state, addressing education, health, environmental stewardship and other critical community needs, benefitting Michigan residents. The Michigan Community Service Commission will engage nearly 3,000 youth volunteers in service across the state for the national day of service.
“It’s great to have youth not only serving but taking lead roles in volunteer projects that impact the community,” said Ginna Holmes, Michigan Community Service Commission executive director. “It’s always wonderful to see youth show their generous spirit and willingness to help others.”
Global Youth Service Day is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through service and service-learning. Established in 1988 by Youth Service America, Global Youth Service Day is the largest and longest-running service event in the world, and the only day of service dedicated to children and youth.
