Wireless Charging Roadway

MDOT, in partnership with Electreon, is piloting the first public in-road wireless charging system in the U.S. on a 1-mile stretch in Detroit. This project aims to revolutionize transportation by enabling continuous EV charging on the move, turning public roads into sustainable energy platforms that could significantly boost electric vehicle adoption.

Fresh Coast Corridor

The Fresh Coast Maritime Challenge offers commercial enterprises of all sizes a sustainable, cost-effective and efficient means of transitioning watercraft from diesel to electric power and electrifying marinas. The first cohort of grant recipients will help enable continued innovation in Michigan’s mobility industry, while also contributing to a blueprint that can be replicated by marinas across North America.

    Connected Vehicle Corridor

    MDOT's proposed Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) Corridor on I-94 in Wayne and Washtenaw counties will transform an existing lane into a technology-enabled express lane. Stretching from M-10 in Detroit, to Ann-Arbor Saline Road, this corridor will integrate cutting-edge digital and physical infrastructure to support the future of connected and automated vehicles.

    MachH2 Hydrogen Hub

    A Michigan-backed clean hydrogen hub project, the Midwest Alliance for Clean Hydrogen (MachH2), has been awarded up to $1 billion by the U.S Department of Energy to develop regional supply chains for the production, distribution and use of hydrogen in trucks and heavy-duty vehicles.
