MiUI Minute: Issue Eight

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). In this issue of the MiUI Minute, we’re providing information on how to maintain your account in MiUI.

Maintaining your MiUI Account

Maintaining your MiUI account is an important part of maintaining securities, roles, and users. Assigned roles within MiUI will determine what an employer or Third-Party Administrator (TPA) will be able to view or modify in the system.

MiUI streamlines for all users (employers, TPAs, all programs, i.e. WOTC) the process for modifying user roles and mailing preferences. For example, users with permission will be able to assign roles from a simple drop-down list and the mail associated with that role will automatically be received.

Employers can also modify roles and add new users. As business details of an employer and TPA change, an employer account system administrator will need to maintain their account to ensure accuracy. MiUI allows employer account system administrators to add, update, change, or terminate users within the employer's account. Changes to an employer account can significantly impact a business’ tax rate, so maintaining accurate account information is crucial.

The Maintaining Your MiUI Account Quick Reference Guide has a full list of roles in MiUI and definitions of what each role enables an employer or TPA to view or modify in the system. The Guide also includes a side-by-side comparison of the role assignment process in MiWAM vs. MiUI.
