MiUI Minute: Issue Eleven
December 05, 2025
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). In this issue of the MiUI Minute, we’re providing information on Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to Questions from MiUI Employer / TPA Seminars
UIA offers MiUI Employer and TPA Seminars to prepare users for the launch of MiUI. Seminars started in November, and through holding these sessions, many common questions have been raised and collected for reference. Below are several questions and answers that apply broadly to many users. Go to Michigan.gov/MiUIUniversity for more questions and answers about MiUI, which is scheduled to launch on December 15, 2025.
How do employers and third-party administrators (TPAs) access MiUI?
- Employers and TPAs should use their MiLogin for Business account credentials to access MiUI. For more information on creating a MiLogin for Business account and accessing MiUI, review the step-by-step guide posted on MiUI University.
What do I do if I am an employer without a MiWAM account?
- We encourage all employers to sign up for a MiWAM account before the MiUI Go Live if they do not have one. Benefits functions will be performed in MiWAM until summer of 2026.
When will the 8-digit MiUI Activation Code be available in MiWAM?
- The 8-digit MiUI Activation Code in MiWAM will be available on December 15, 2025 in MiWAM for you to initiate your MiUI employer or TPA account.
Will employers be able to test wage files in MiUI before the required submission date?
- You can test your wage report files via the Wage Report Validation Tool. This tool will allow you to upload a wage report in your preferred file format and will inform you of any identified issues associated with your submission. If your file is formatted correctly, you will receive a message indicating that you have submitted a valid file. Users should not upload real employer or employee information to this tool, as internet communication may not be secure.
What employer data from MiWAM is being transferred to MiUI?
- All employers with MiWAM accounts will have the past 10 years of account data transferred to MiUI.
If you would like to attend an employer/TPA seminar, sign up for an online employer or TPA seminar. Two seminars are scheduled each week for employers and one for TPAs, with morning and afternoon times. Each will provide an overview of key changes and help attendees prepare their organization for Go Live.
How to Prepare for MiUI Go Live
It’s almost time! Here are five things you need to do to prepare for the MiUI Go Live:
- Confirm your future system administrator(s) and any other users associated with your Employer/TPA have a MiLogin for Business account.
- Confirm you can access your MiWAM account, and make sure you know the information (i.e. MiUI Activation Code) you'll need to initiate your MiUI account.
- Review and update contact information, payment methods, and user permissions in MiWAM.
- Review your current TPA-Employer associations and role assignments to understand what roles the TPAs will have in MiUI.
- Review the MiUI wage report file formats and test your files with the Wage Report File Validation tool to prepare for your first submission.
