MiUI Minute: Issue 34
July 10, 2026
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new unemployment tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). MiUI is being launched in two parts, with Tax functions now live, and Benefits functions scheduled to be available later in 2026.
In this issue of the MiUI Minute, third-party administrators (TPAs) are being asked to urge employers they work with to initiate their own MiUI account.
TPAs: Your Clients Must Initiate their MiUI Unemployment Account
MiUI for Tax launched in February and with the launch of MiUI for Benefits coming later this year it is critical that all the employers you represent have initiated their own MiUI accounts. They must set up an account in MiUI to be able to protest or appeal benefits claims. Both you and the employers you work with must have individual MiUI accounts.
As a TPA, you are a key partner in helping your clients initiate their MiUI accounts. Please work with them so they can get access to the new unemployment insurance system.
Reach out to your employer clients to help them activate their accounts. UIA has created this helpful Communication Resource package. In the package, you'll find two important items:
- An Employer Letter that includes important information about MiUI to orient employer clients to the new system as well as the most critical information they need to initiate their accounts.
- A TPA Assignment Form Letter you can customize for each client and will assist them in assigning the correct MiUI roles to you.
Note: If you are going to perform a benefit role on behalf of your client, make sure the employer assigns those roles (Edit Benefits Charges and Claims Forms Mailing) to you.
Click the button below and then scroll down the page to find Communication Resources for TPAs (see image below). Select Learn more in our template instructions for a step-by-step guide on using the email template to reach out to the employer(s) you represent.

Additionally, you can use the below job aid to help your employers initiate their account in MiUI:

MiUI is an employer-driven system. Employers and you both must have accounts in MiUI for a seamless unemployment experience today and in the future.
Thank you for your continued support as we transition to the new MiUI user platform. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with you now that tax functions have launched and benefits functions are coming later this year.
