MiUI is a new computer system that will replace the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency’s (UIA) current system, Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM), installed in 2013. It will be used by claimants, employers and UIA staff in administering the state’s unemployment insurance program. MiUI is grounded in practical needs, shaped by user experience, and aligned with UIA’s statutory responsibility to serve Michigan workers and employers more effectively.

MiUI will feature human-centered design and plain language for an easy-to-understand user experience for workers, employers, and agency staff.

MiUI will allow for accelerated claims processing, is developed to be mobile friendly, will include redesigned plain-language forms, and provide streamlined manual processes. It will also feature updated increased data accuracy, a user-friendly design, and automated reports and dashboards which will benefit those filing for jobless benefits. MiUI will connect seamlessly to other information databases to accurately identify fraudulent claims.

The new system is being implemented in two phases, an industry best-practice approach that enables more manageable rollouts, focused testing, and reduced risk of disruption for employers and claimants. The benefits-related functionality is planned to launch later in 2026. The tax-related functionality used by employers and third-party administrators (TPAs) launched in February 2026.
