Overview of MiUI's Launch

MiUI is Michigan’s new unemployment system for workers and employers.

Beginning 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2026, it will replace the MIWAM system for all unemployment tasks by workers and employers. Here’s what you need to know about the Unemployment Insurance Agency’s new modern user platform.

Why the switch?

MiUI is a modern platform

The changeover to the MiUI platform is part of UIA’s drive toward modernization. The current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) system was launched in 2012. The modern interface reflects the way consumers interact with other organizations or businesses they frequent on the web.

The improvements and benefits in MiUI

Users have greater control over their unemployment claim in MiUI to accurately complete tasks online. They will have less need to call UIA, leading to greater customer satisfaction, less frustration, and a quicker resolution of issues.

  • Mobile- and tablet-friendly access, as well as on laptop and desktop computers.
  • Available 24/7 when it is convenient for any user.
  • Weekly certifications and weekly payments (instead of biweekly in MiWAM).
  • Modern, easy-to-navigate design using plain language.
  • Faster, more efficient claim processing.
  • Enhanced fraud prevention.

What can I do in MiUI?

MiUI is designed to work seamlessly on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. You easily and efficiently can do more in MiUI than you were able to do in MiWAM, including:

  • File new claims.
  • Certify weekly for benefits.
  • Upload documents.
  • View payments.
  • Respond to fact-finding.
  • Complete missed certifications.
  • Message UIA.
  • Schedule virtual, phone, or in-person appointments.
Before Nov. 2

How to get ready for MiUI

If you have an existing MiWAM account, your information and claims will be found in MiUI once the new system launches on Nov. 9. If you have an existing claim in MiWAM, you will not have to file a new claim in MiUI.

MiUI Launches

Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2026, all unemployment tasks—including filing claims, certifying for benefits, viewing payments, uploading documents, and responding to UIA requests—will take place only in MiUI. Employers and third-party administrators (TPAs) have been using MiUI since February for tax obligations. On Monday, Nov. 9, employers and TPAs will use MiUI for benefits obligations, as well.

How do I access MiUI?

When MiUI launces on Monday, Nov. 9, ,2026, you should go to Michigan.gov/UIA and click on the Login to MiUI link under Unemployment Benefits in the Services section of the page. Then, log into MiLogin. Once you are logged in, go to the Pure Michigan Talent Connect dashboard and select MiUI.

Nov. 9 and beyond

Other Nov. 9 changes to MARVIN and online claim filing

With MiUI, some routine administrative functions people regularly use will be permanently offline because it will be easier for the individuals to handle those tasks online in MiUI themselves. They include:

  • Using MARVIN, the Michigan Automated Response Voice Interactive Network to certify for benefits and record work search activities each week.
  • Filing an unemployment claim over the phone.
  • Weekly certifications and benefit payments.

MARVIN and phone claim filing will be discontinued.

MiUI makes certifying online easy. Unlike MARVIN, you can certify for benefits any day and time using MiUI during your certification week when it is convenient for you. MARVIN required users to call UIA on assigned days and wait for an agent to certify for benefits.

Claim filing by phone will end because MiUI makes filing simpler and more accessible online.

MARVIN will no longer be available starting at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, after which time you will no longer be able to file claims over the phone.

Performing these processes online will allow UIA staff to help those who really need a live person to resolve an issue with their claim, increasing customer satisfaction.

When is the Final MARVIN Certification Window?

Monday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Anyone can certify on that day, regardless of their designated day and time.

Other resources avaialble:

UIA is committed to supporting all users after MARVIN is discontinued and online claim filing is no longer available.

  • Certify for your benefits and file your claim using MiUI. It’s fast, easy and available day and at any time.

  • Walk-in appointments are now available, but you can also schedule an appointment if you have a specific day or time you are available so you don’t have to wait for an agent.
  • Many Local Offices offer self-serve kiosks and have accessibility tools so you can access your claim. Staff are also able to help if you run into problems.
  • Schedule a virtual appointment, which offers the same services as in-person visits, including language assistance.

Key things to keep in mind with MiUI

MiUI uses weekly certifications, which is a change from the bi-weekly certifications in MiWAM. Your benefits will also be paid weekly instead of bi-weekly. When you certify, you must confirm you are:

  • Actively seeking work.
  • Available for full-time work.
  • Able to accept suitable work.

Please note: Recent bipartisan changes to state law require those receiving benefits to perform three unique job search activities each week.

What does certifying look like in MiUI?

  • MiUI shows users when it’s time to certify.
  • The “Certify for Benefits” tile on the screen turns gray when there is a week available to certify.
  • When certifying, answers can be reviewed before submitting but cannot be edited afterward.
  • Incomplete certifications are automatically deleted each Saturday at 11:59 p.m.
  • Missing certifications may deactivate your claim.

Will I need to update my payment method?

No. Your payment method automatically carries over. Once you access your account in MiUI, verify that all your information is correct, including bank account routing numbers. If you chose a debit card for your payment and you are having problems, call U.S. Bank Debit Card Support: 866‑335‑1890 or go to USBankReliaCard.com

Need help understanding how to apply for benefits and managing your claim? The UIA offers a six‑step Claimant Roadmap.
