MiVirtualCareerFair provides the opportunity to connect virtually with employers from across Michigan
May 11, 2016
May 11, 2016 –Michigan employers and job seekers can connect through a state-sponsored virtual career fair on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pure Michigan Talent Connects MiVirtualCareerFairs bring together Michigan employers and talent from across the state and the globe in an online, virtual event.
Since 2012 more than 271 employers and 35,822 job seekers have been connected through the state’s 18 sponsored events. For the first MiVirtualCareerFair event of 2016, 27 Michigan employers in varying industries and more than 260 opportunities will be highlighted and featured. There’s no cost for job seekers to participate. Registration information can be found at www.mitalent.org/virtualcareerfair. During virtual events, job seekers can explore employer booths, interact one-on-one with participating employers and search and apply for job opportunities. In addition, job seekers can access information about career development programs and resources in the event Media Center and Resource Lounge.
“Talent is the number one need and concern for employers in Michigan and this is just one of the great resources we have available to help address that need,” said Stephanie Comai, director of the Michigan Talent Investment Agency. “Not only can job seekers apply for multiple jobs at once but they can chat virtually with live representatives from the many great companies participating in this event.”
The Michigan Nonprofit Association will be participating as a resource to assist job seekers interested in finding opportunities in the nonprofit sector. Veterans can also connect with staff at the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) booth to learn about veteran’s benefits and services in Michigan. More than 660,000 veterans live in Michigan, and between 30,000 and 50,000 veterans are expected to return to Michigan over the next several years.
“Our organization has benefited from our involvement with MiVirtualCareerFair. We had over 300 job seekers visit our booth and 70+ individuals sign up for our company newsletter because of our presence at the last virtual event in November 2015. We were able to connect with job seekers we wouldn’t have otherwise, to aid them in finding employment within Michigan’s nonprofit sector,” said Bill Gesaman, director, Michigan Nonprofit Association.
MiVirtualCareerFair is the next greatest form of networking and communication with employers. It’s convenient for employers and job seekers alike because you only need to have a computer and internet connection to participate. No need to travel across state or prepare for an entire day’s event at a career fair.
Interviews are not guaranteed during or after the event. All job openings posted during the events are accessible to participants for 30 days after event. Post-event, job seekers can return to the environment and apply for more job opportunities during the 30 day post event reporting period. Employers receive in-depth analytics including candidate resumes, applications, chat transcripts, and booth visit data, which further solidify connections made during the event.
