TIA-Unemployment Insurance Adjusts Hours to Better Serve the Public
November 08, 2018
November 7, 2018 — Wanda M. Stokes, Director, Talent Investment Agency announced today that Unemployment Insurance (TIA-UI) offices will adjust office hours to continue efforts to better serve the public. Office hours in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Saginaw will be adjusted based upon feedback from customers that earlier hours are now more in demand. In July 2018 the hours for both office and telephone service were changed across the agency to include both early hours before 8:00 a.m. and late hours after 5:00 p.m.
“Adjusting our hours is just one of the many ways we are working to provide more effective and efficient customer service,” said Wanda M. Stokes, Director of the Talent Investment Agency.” “Our customers have told us what they need to have the best chance for benefit service and reemployment success, and we’re working to make sure they have it.”
Beginning Nov. 12, 2018, the local office hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. All other local offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For a complete list of offices across the state, visit the UI website at michigan.gov/uia. Click on Unemployment Insurance Local Offices. Customers may access their unemployment account information, and request assistance online through the Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM) 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.michigan.gov/uia.
TIA-UI is planning several other changes to be implemented within the next several months to streamline customer service and processes for both employers and unemployed workers. Some of the changes includes implementing the Single-Sign-On process for one-stop online unemployment and jobseeker accounts, improving our customer contact process by consolidating multiple phone lines, providing a chat feature for online customer service, and consolidating local administrative and customer service offices in Saginaw and Lansing for more efficiency.
