Michigan’s prevailing wage requirements expanded
April 23, 2025
LANSING, Mich. — As of April 2, Michigan’s prevailing wage requirements have expanded for contracting agents, contractors and subcontractors working on covered projects. The updated changes require all contractors and subcontractors to complete an annual registration with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) before bidding on or beginning work for prevailing wage projects and submission of certified payrolls to the contracting agent or through our online tool.
Contractors or subcontractors failing to register may be ineligible to perform work on prevailing wage projects.
New Requirements Effective April 2, 2025:
- Contractor Registration: Contractors employing construction mechanics must register online with LEO on the Prevailing Wage Registration.
- Invoice & Payment: After registration, an invoice will be sent from leo-whcertifiedpayroll@michigan.gov. Payments can be made after 12:00 p.m. the next business day at The Pay Place or by mailing a check to: Wage and Hour Division P.O. Box 30476 Lansing, MI 48909
- Certified Payroll Submission: Once payment is confirmed, LEO will provide a registration verification letter and steps to access to LCP Tracker, a web-based platform for submitting Certified Payroll electronically.
