To mark Sunshine Week, page provides more disclosure,
gathers key Department of State information for public in one place
To emphasize transparency in state government, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson today announced a new web page providing more disclosure and gathering key Department of State information in one place.
Launched in recognition of Sunshine Week, the page on the Secretary of State website is available at Michigan.gov/SOSOpenGovernment and also can be accessed from the home page at Michigan.gov/SOS.
"It's important for residents to have all the information they need and deserve so they can hold their elected officials accountable," Benson said. "Sunshine Week is an instructive reminder to all of us that greater accountability and transparency will strengthen our democracy."

Benson will continue to update the information and publish new elements online as they become available throughout her tenure.
The new web page is a part of a series of actions Benson is taking. She held her first Restore the Public Trust town hall to get feedback from residents Sunday in Southfield in partnership with state Sen. Jeremy Moss and state Rep. Kyra Bolden.
Sunshine Week is a nonprofit effort launched in 2005 by the American Society of News Editors. It is an annual call to action for open government and freedom of information at federal, state and local levels.
