Secretary of State office on Bagley St. in Detroit to close for two weeks for remodeling project

DETROIT, Mich. – The Secretary of State office at 2835 Bagley St. in Detroit will be closed for two weeks because of a remodeling project, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.
The office will be closed on Monday, March 9 and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 23.
The project includes carpet replacement, fresh paint, new signage, and other building upgrades.
Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s administration has doubled the number of services available online and now most transactions can be done from computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
Self-service stations provide instant license plate, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions, and offer nine language options. The nearest self-service stations are located in the Prince Valley Market at 5931 Michigan Ave., in the Meijer Rivertown Market at 1475 E. Jefferson Ave. in Detroit, and in the Azteca Supermercado at 2411 Central Ave. in Detroit.
Residents who need to come into an office for Secretary of State services during the remodeling period may schedule a visit to the closest alternative office at Michigan.gov/SOS or by calling 888-767-6424. The nearest offices are located at 5090 Schaefer Rd. in Dearborn and 580 E. Warren Ave. in Detroit.
Both offices are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except Wednesdays, when the hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
