  • 2019 Michigan's AmeriCorps Member Celebration

    More than 600 Michigan's AmeriCorps State, VISTA, and National members will come together in Lansing on November 14, 2019 for a day of training, networking, and recognition. The event, hosted by the Michigan Community Service Commission, will help prepare AmeriCorps members for their year of service and celebrate the courage of their commitment.

  • Funds Available For New and Recompeting Michigan's AmeriCorps Programs

    Federal funds are available to support new and recompeting Michigan's AmeriCorps programs to start in the fall of 2020 for a 12-month program cycle.

  • AmeriCorps Member of the Month - February: Daria Hill, Michelle Turner, Flint Community School Corps Michigan's AmeriCorps Member of the Month

    FEBRUARY 2020: “Daria and Michelle are a team and go above and beyond equally serving the students and families at Doyle-Ryder,” stated AmeriCorps program director Jessica Robinson. “The AmeriCorps members, site supervisor, and school staff affectionately call themselves a family and aim to inspire students to success!”

    MARCH 2020: Isha Johnson has deep roots at City Year Detroit. As an AmeriCorps member, Isha served for two years as a student success coach, helping students build on their strengths and cultivate social, emotional and academic skills. After her service, Isha joined the staff at City Year Detroit becoming an Impact Manager where she now manages a team of 14 AmeriCorps members serving at Durfee Elementary-Middle and Central High School.  

  • MI AmeriCorps Site Supervisor of the Month - March 2020: Courtney Carroll, AdviseMI Michigan's AmeriCorps Site Supervisor of the Month

    MARCH 2020: As a High School Counselor, Courtney Carroll is passionate about helping students at Clintondale High School succeed in school and plan for a bright future. This year, she was excited to partner with the AdviseMI AmeriCorps program for the first time, bringing in an AmeriCorps College Advisor to provide additional support for her students as they explore their post-secondary plans.

  • MI AmeriCorps Alum Spotlight - March 2020: Tammy Lynn Nustad, Campaign to End Homelessness Michigan's AmeriCorps Alum Spotlight

    MARCH 2020: Tammy Lynn Nustad served as an AmeriCorps member from 2018-2019 with Michigan’s Campaign to End Homelessness. Reflecting on her service experience, Tammy Lynn stated, “this role was the best thing I have ever done!” In addition to the employment support she provided, she also helped the shelter by collecting food, toiletries, household products, and clothing items for their shelter guests and clients that were transitioning into new housing.
