MiUI Minute: Issue Nine

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). In this issue of the MiUI Minute, we’re providing information on MiUI Training Materials and New Resources.

New MiUI Resources Now Available

To support a smooth transition, we’re providing several new resources to help employers and third-party administrators (TPAs) prepare for MiUI. Please take these important steps in the coming weeks to get ready for the launch of MIUI:

1. Employer Seminars – Registration Now Open

During these sessions, you'll get an overview of key system changes, see live demonstrations, and receive guidance to help your organization prepare for Go Live. Visit the UIA Coaching sessions page to sign up for a seminar. Sessions are approximately 1.5 hours each.

2. Wage Report File Testing

A wage report file validation tool is now available! Start testing your wage report files to confirm you’re ready to successfully submit wage reports. The file validation tool allows unlimited file checks and does not retain any test data. To support you in creating your file format, file specifications are available on MiUI University. For additional guidance on how to use the tool, you can reference this Wage Report File Validation Tool Quick Reference Guide on MiUI University.

3. Training Materials

Training materials are now available on MiUI University. These courses are designed to enhance your skills and prepare you for the launch of the system. Training materials will be added regularly, so be sure to check back often.

4. Countdown to MiUI Must Do Items

To get ready for Go Live, complete these 5 steps:

To access the links in the graphic below, click here to open in a new tab.

A checklist that has the following five items: 1. MiLogin for Business Accounts: Confirm your future system administrator(s) and any other users associated with your Employer/TPA have a MiLogin for Business account. 2. Check MiWAM access: Confirm you can access your MiWAM account, and make sure you know the information (i.e. MiUI Activation Code) you'll need to initiate your MiUI account. 3. Review Information in MiWAM: Review and update contact information, payment methods, and user permissions in MiWAM. 4. Review Current TPA-Employment Associations: Review your current TPA-Employer associations and role assignments to understand what roles the TPAs will have in MiUI. 5. Test File Formats: Review the MiUI wage report file formats and test your files with the Wage Report File Validation tool to prepare for your first submission."
