MiUI Minute: Issue Fourteen
January 12, 2026
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). In this issue of the MiUI Minute, we’re providing information on the MiUI Go Live date and the MiWAM Downtime Period to prepare for the transition.
MiUI Go Live Date and MiWAM Downtime Period
MiUI Go Live Date Announcement
After careful preparations, the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is excited to share a new Go Live date for MiUI Release 1 (Tax), now scheduled for Monday, February 23, 2026. Over the past few weeks, the MiUI project team worked together with remarkable focus and commitment; collective efforts which have strengthened our confidence that the MiUI system will be ready to launch on Day One for employers and third-party administrators (TPAs).
MiWAM Downtime Period
To accommodate the transition to the modern, easy-to-use MiUI platform, the current MiWAM system used by employers and TPAs will be temporarily unavailable to all users during a scheduled service interruption. This Downtime Period starts at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, and extends through Sunday, Feb. 22. During this period, no one will be able to access MiWAM.
On Monday, Feb. 23, MiUI should be live for tax functions and users will once again be able to get into MiWAM, but with access limited to benefits functions only. All users are strongly encouraged to complete any required unemployment insurance activities ahead of the Feb. 18-22 Downtime Period to minimize disruption to their operations.
5 Things to do to Prepare for MiUI
It’s almost time! Before MiUI is scheduled to go live on Feb. 23, here are five things you need to do to prepare:
- Confirm your future system administrator(s) and any other users associated with your Employer/TPA have a MiLogin for Business account.
- Confirm you can access your MiWAM account, and make sure you know the information (i.e. MiUI Activation Code) you'll need to initiate your MiUI account.
- Review and update contact information, payment methods, and user permissions in MiWAM.
- Review your current TPA-Employer associations and role assignments to understand what roles the TPAs will have in MiUI.
- Review the MiUI wage report file formats and test your files with the Wage Report File Validation tool to prepare for your first submission.
