MiUI Minute: Issue 21
February 18, 2026
The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new tax and benefits system called MiUI, which will replace the current Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). MiUI is being launched in two parts, with Tax functions launching on Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, and Benefits functions scheduled to launch in summer 2026.
In this issue of the MiUI Minute, we’re providing information on how to find the Activation Code you will need to access MiUI and a reminder about the system Downtime Period. Find all past editions of the MiUI Minute at MiUI University.
How to Find Your MiUI Activation Code

MiUI Go Live Activation Code
Employers and third-party administrators (TPAs) will need a few pieces of information to activate their MiUI account after the new computer system launches on Monday, Feb. 23:
Employers will need:
- Employer Account Number (EAN).
- Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN).
- MiUI Activation Code found in their MiWAM accounts.
TPAs will need:
- FEIN or Social Security Number (SSN).
- MiUI Activation Code found in MiWAM.
Where is my MiUI Activation Code in MiWAM?
Employers and TPAs must log into MiWAM to access the 8-digit MiUI Activation Code. Users with Master or Limited access security roles will be able to see the MiUI Activation Code tab on the MiWAM landing page (pictured above).
Note: If you are a TPA who is also a Michigan employer, you will need to log in using your Master access security to see both Activation Codes on your homepage.
When can I access my Activation Code in MiWAM?
The MiUI Activation Code tab will appear on your MiWAM landing page when MiUI goes live on Monday, Feb. 23. When it’s time to access MiUI for the first time, log in to MiWAM and retrieve your MiUI Activation Code to initiate your MiUI employer or TPA account. The code will not be in MiWAM until the day of MiUI go live.
Adding a New User Activation Code (Post Go Live)
After MiUI Go Live, when a new user is added to an employer account, they will need a code to activate their MiUI account. This code will be sent to the email associated with that user’s MiLogin for Business credentials.

System Downtime Period
MiWAM will be temporarily unavailable to all users during a scheduled service interruption, referred to as Downtime Period, starting at 4:30 p.m. TODAY, Wednesday, February 18, and extending through Sunday, February 22. Throughout this period, employers, TPAs, claimants, and UIA staff will not be able to access or use any MiWAM functions.
When MiUI launches Monday morning, Feb. 23, MiWAM will resume operation for benefits functions only. Users are strongly encouraged to complete any required activities ahead of the Downtime Period to minimize any disruption to their operations.
