May 3, 2019 – To better serve the public, the Unemployment Insurance Agency’s Local Office in Lansing is relocating to a new, larger facility located at 5217 Perry Robinson Circle in Lansing. The new office opens for business on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 8:00 a.m.
The current office, located at 5015 S. Cedar St., is now closed. To ensure continuity of services for Lansing area customers, Unemployment Insurance Agency representatives are available at Capital Area Michigan Works! American Job Center, 2110 S. Cedar St., through May 7, 2019. Customers may also contact UIA by sending a message online through the Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM), or via the toll-free customer service line at 1-866-500-0017; TTY 1-866-366-0004.
“The move to a new location is part of our ongoing efforts to better meet the needs of residents who interact with the unemployment insurance system,” said Stephanie Beckhorn, acting director of the Talent and Economic Development Department of Michigan.
“This new, larger location will allow us to service more customers and increase the efficiency of our operation,” Beckhorn added. “The new location also increases the convenience in its proximity to the reemployment services offered by our Michigan Works! partners.”
Unemployment Insurance Agency Local Office staff assist customers with unemployment benefits while Michigan Works! provides services to help unemployed workers transition to new jobs.
The Lansing Local Office is one of 13 locations around the state that provides in-person assistance to customers with unemployment insurance claims. Each Local Office provides access to computers for customers to file their claim or access their online accounts. The office hours for the new Lansing Local Office location will be Mondays 7 AM - 5 PM, Tuesdays 8 AM - 6 PM, and Wednesdays - Friday 8 AM- 5PM.
Customers may also file claims, submit questions, and check the status of their unemployment accounts online 24 hours a day through MiWAM. To access MIWAM, and for a list of other Unemployment Insurance Agency Local Office locations and hours, visit the UIA website at www.michigan.gov/uia.
